About me

I am a PhD level psychotherapist with 15 years of experience providing individual psychotherapy to young adult and adult clients. I also work as a senior lecturer at the University of Roehampton and a part time lecturer at NYU London.

I work closely to understand my clients’ unique needs and tailor treatment accordingly.  I understand how it can feel challenging to begin work with a therapist, and I aim to create a space that can feel safe, accepting and non-judgmental. My clients tell me they appreciate my warmth, compassion and commitment to helping them with their goals.

I have successfully helped clients navigate and deal with several concerns such as depression, anxiety, eating difficulties, problems in relationships, changing identities, postpartum/perinatal mental health, grief, past trauma, women’s issues, life transition and adjustment, cultural difficulties, self-esteem etc.

About my therapeutic approach

I am trained as an integrative therapist, though I tend to work with a relational-psychodynamic framework while paying close attention to social-justice/feminist elements.  I focus on deepening my clients’ understanding of themselves, with the hope of helping clients experience the sense of empowerment, freedom and acceptance that comes with greater self-understanding. I also appreciate the power society and systems can have on us, and help clients process how these have impacted their lived experience.

Although I use a relational-psychodynamic framework in my therapy with clients,  I have been trained in various therapeutic orientations, including CBT, person-centered therapy and other evidence-based therapies, and thus, am able to draw on different techniques as needed.

My qualifications

I am a registered member with the BACP. I have also worked with clients in India and in the United States previously. I earned my PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Maryland (UMD) College Park in the United States. Prior to the doctorate, I completed a Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling (also from UMD) and a Master’s in Clinical Psychology (from Delhi University in India).
